Lockdown Songs

Jilly Riley and Matt Knee

We decided to cover Somewhere Over the Rainbow at this time as it ties in with the stay safe rainbow and appreciation for the NHS (we used our previous lockdown cover video 'What a wonderful world' to raise funds for NHS charities).

We used the setting of our bedroom to pay homage to John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 'bed peace' as we are fans of theirs. We hope to inspire folk to continue to dream, to remember the light beyond the darkness during such challenging times, hence the dreamy musical vibe.

For us, music is our oxygen and so much more. It gives us a way to communicate emotion, to paint upon audio canvas so to speak, but during this Covid-19 time it gives us hope and a way to travel beyond our 4 walls during lockdown! We feel music offers inspiration to dream, courage to carry on, happiness and right now, unity, to its listeners/viewers.

We're loving the way people are coming together online, doing ordinary things usually taken for granted in different ways ( I'll use my daughter Melody as an example, who's reading books out loud collectively through video chat, taking it in turns to read the chapters to each other) . Our creativity as a race seems to be suddenly blooming, it is overwhelmingly beautiful, as seen through the music, art and literature we're creating right now, not to mention what we're doing to support each other and our NHS, Captain Tom, just to name one of us.....it seems humanity has become inspiration in its self and we're loving been part of it.
