Our Community Hub is providing practical assistance to the people of Pontefract in terms of food parcels, help with shopping, prescription collections, dog walking, telephone befriending and more.
This community response to the COVID-19 crisis is a collaboration between Wakefield Council, St Mary’s Hub and a team of specially recruited volunteers.
We are most proud of the generosity of many individuals within our community, whether giving their time to volunteer or donating food, supplies and cash.
This has been incredible and uplifting. It has also been inspiring to see how Hubs in the wider area have come together to help and support each other.
Our contact details are very well publicised and shared. People can contact us for the direct help we can provide as a Community Hub. If we can’t help with their problems directly, we are able to signpost them to the relevant organisation instead.
Second Lockdown Response
We have a busy centre here at St Mary's, running our Adult Education courses and other permitted bookings.
We are now part of the Help at the Hub Scheme, presently holding weekly Citizens Advice Drop Ins, with other partners coming on board in the near future.
We will be delivering Christmas parcels to our lunch club members on Friday, 18th December.
