Star has continued to provide support to children and young people who are experiencing bereavement after the death of someone important to them.
The team worked throughout lockdown 1 working remotely to provide creative, therapeutic Zoom workshops in collaboration with One to One Development Trust, text support, phone support and Zoom therapeutic sessions for the most vulnerable young people. Post lockdown Star returned to Covid secure face to face working and we have continued this throughout the second lockdown.
We are proud that we have continued to deliver support to children and young people when they need us. As a small team this was not without its challenges but the whole team, from volunteers to Trustees were determined to make this happen.
Locally we recognise that there is a need for support that is specifically for young people when someone important to them dies. Young people, parents, carers and professionals reach out to us to request support and our assessment process enables us to work with each young person to identify the support needed.
As part of our response during the Covid pandemic we increased our remote capability by ensuring that staff and volunteers had access to mobile phones and laptops which we used to provide online, text and phone support options for children and young people, we will keep this offer as we move forward and we are constantly learning about how this can work better for young people.
