After seeing heart-warming tributes being painted elsewhere in the country, Wakefield’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation and the Head of Highways and Transport Services discussed the possibility of painting the ‘NHS Rainbow logo’ at our hospitals.
It was felt to be a fitting tribute for the work being undertaken by our NHS staff during this extremely challenging time. The logos are on Private Land; we did seek approval of the landowners before we implemented the work and the cost of the work was minimal.
The response from the team that did the painting and other colleagues was incredibly positive. They were very proud to be asked to deliver the works and receive the positive feedback from staff and also visitors at the hospital whilst they undertook the works.
We were overwhelmed by the positive response from the public, with hundreds of shares on social media and positive comments from residents sharing their thanks and support to the NHS.
